About the Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station

The Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station—also known as the Gettysburg Train Station or Western Maryland Railroad Station—is a historic landmark located on Carlisle Street in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Operable from 1858 to 1942, it is a contributing structure to the Gettysburg Battlefield Historic District.

The station is most famous as President Abraham Lincoln’s point of arrival on November 18, 1863, and his departure following the delivery of the Gettysburg Address. During the Battle of Gettysburg, the station served as a hospital and later became a critical hub for transporting wounded soldiers and bringing in vital supplies.

In 2015, ownership of the station was transferred to the National Park Service through the Gettysburg Foundation, preserving it as an important piece of American history.
